Since opening our doors in 1989, we’ve helped interior designers discover finely crafted resources, emerging trends, and the best brands globally. Our state-of-the-art showrooms in Charlotte and Raleigh, NC, spanning 33,000 and 12,000 square feet, respectively, offer a vast selection of furniture, fabric, area rugs and carpet, wallcovering, trim, and more.

Our Story

The inspiration for A. Hoke Ltd. was born from Alma Greene’s husband, Don Greene, who worked as a traveling sales representative for a fabric company in the Carolinas. While traveling, designers wanted to stop by for samples. So, Alma set up a mini-showroom in the room above their garage. The popularity of that mini-showroom led to Alma creating a dedicated space for interior designers where their creativity and imagination could flourish. At the time, a location of this kind didn’t exist in the Carolinas.

In 1989, Alma opened the first A. Hoke Ltd. interior designer showroom in Charlotte, NC. The “A” stands for Alma, and “Hoke” comes from her maiden name. The Charlotte showroom quickly became a success, leading to the opening of the Raleigh showroom in 1992 to serve the greater Triad area.

Alma and Don’s only daughter, Elaine, inherited her love and passion for providing interior designers with the industry’s best resources. Following her mother’s footsteps, Elaine now leads the company, honoring Alma’s legacy. While trends, fashion, and brands may evolve over time, A. Hoke Ltd. has remained true to its mission of providing superior customer service and the best resources to trade professionals since day one.
